A Phoenix, Arizona restaurant was accused of violating federal law when its owner repeatedly made sexual advances to an employee and then punished her for complaining and fired her.

The torment that a woman must go through when subjected to sexual harassment is almost unthinkable, having to go to work to get ahead in life but knowing, or even worse not knowing, what lays ahead each work day at the hands of her tormentor, her workplace harasser.

A Phoenix, Arizona restaurant which does business in Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona violated federal law when its owner repeatedly made sexual advances to an employee and then punished her for complaining and fired her, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charged in a lawsuit it filed today.

According to the EEOC’s lawsuit, a manager and part owner of the restaurant sexually harassed the female employee by making repeated sexual advances during a catering trip for an event at the Tucson restaurant. The employee rejected the advances. Five days after her return to Phoenix, the employee was disciplined for tardiness, despite having been given permission to come in late, and her weekly work shifts were reduced from five to one. When the employee complained about the sexual harassment, the manager / owner fired her.
